Hives

Urticaria or Hives are characterized by swollen reddish wheals on the skin that appear suddenly either as a result to body's reaction to certain allergens or for unknown reason. Hives can be either acute or chronic. Acute Urticaria happens after eating a particular food or coming in contact with a particular trigger. It can also be triggered by non-allergic causes like heat or exercise, as well certain medications and insects.

Chronic Urticaria usually lasts for many months and years. Specific triggers are difficult to identify in chronic Urticartia. In some cases it could be because of thyroid disease, hepatitis and infection. Skin allergies can be effectively treated through homeopathic medicine. Homeopathy treats the patient holistically and does not treat the skin as single organ. It believes that skin allergies are the external manifestations of the disturbed internal health and the medication is aimed correcting it.

Along with homeopathy medication self help forms the important part of the treatment. Some important measures are:
  • Moisturize your skin frequently if possible every 8th hourly
  • Hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of fluids
  • Minimize the usage of soaps, detergents and cosmetics
  • Exposure to early morning sunlight
  • Don’t take bath with too much water instead use lukewarm water
  • Avoid the trigger allergens or irritants
  • Last but not the least take adequate steps to control stress-practice yoga/ meditation
